Textile

The textile sector is one of the European industries that most intensively experienced the process of relocation to the Asian continent. The relocation of factories to countries such as China to find lower labour costs occurred during the 1980s and 1990s. It also peaked in the early 2000s.

Today, local product development accounts for one-third of the total and is found in European countries such as Portugal, Greece and Spain. The European economy will benefit from the impetus provided by the return of the textiles and clothing sector. However, Europe and especially Spain need to reindustrialise in order to consolidate their growth.
