Lleytons appoints a Data Protection Officer to the Spanish Data Protection Agency

In Lleytons we are perfectly aware of the importance of protecting our clients’ privacy and treating with the greatest sensitivity all the data they provide us with. With that purpose in mind, Mireia Córdoba Zúñiga has been appointed as Lleytons’ Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (“AEPD”). Mireia has been entrusted with this task based on her long and outstanding track record as a professional with dedicated capacity in this area, including her certification as a DPO Expert with No. DPO-E-100. 

The current implementation and configuration of the DPO position is entailed by the entry into force of the European Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). Further detailsand knowledge on its role, responsibilities and functioning can be found in the Spanish Personal Data Protection Law 3/2018 (“LOPD 3/2018”), in Chapter III. Both, the GDPR and LOPD 3/2018 established the position as part of the measures aimed at increasing the security of the treatment of personal data. The DPO shall act as the contact point for the controller or of the processor with the AEPD or the competent autonomous supervisory authorities.

 Mireia meets all the requirements and specific professional skills imposed by those regulations. She has extensive experience as a Consultant and certified Auditor for Data Protection (LOPD-GDPR, LSSICE), and is specialized in cybercrime and new technologies. Mireia was awarded with the Gold Medal for Work Merit in 2017.

Our new DPO will provide our clients with the specialized assistance they need, by advising and supporting their exercise of any rights as regards those matters.
